Visual Description
On the natural-toned painting board, Focky appears head-on. The coral-orange beak fills the lower part of the picture and is framed by clear black contours and a light edge. Above it sits the characteristic single eye, set in a head divided into segments: on the left, greens and golds glow with small dots; on the right, light-blue and turquoise areas run with subtle markings. A white wing lies protectively over the right half of the head, while a second wing grows outward on the left.
In the background on the right floats a turquoise cloud from which fine white dots fall like rain or sparks of light.
The neck runs into a graphic column of vertical reds and greens with three round fields of color in green, light green and red. Curved lines around the head and cheeks suggest a swinging, lively movement.
Artistic Interpretation
“Focky 15” shows Focky as an observer of sky and weather. The large eye stands for inner alertness and looking up – toward one’s own visions, but also toward the “weather” outside. The cloud with its falling dots reads like a symbol of the influences, inspirations or moods that act on us. The wings and glowing greens stand for new beginnings, freshness and protection; the warm coral beak anchors the picture in friendliness and humor.
The work speaks of a focus that mediates between earth and sky: grounded in everyday life, yet open to signs, chances and changes on the horizon. Focky becomes an ally for everyone who wants to observe and consciously shape their inner weather.
Art-Historical Context
“Focky 15” sits between urban pop, neo-pop and contemporary comic art. The clearly stylized figure, flat color and the play with segmentation, symbols (cloud, wings) and dots recall street art, graffiti and digital illustration. At the same time, Ali Görmez builds on the tradition of iconic pop figures but carries it into a visual world of his own, in which Focky, as a recurring leitmotif, carries questions of perception, protection, lightness and change.
Exclusivity
“Focky 15 – November 2025 Edition” belongs to a limited edition of hand-painted boards. Each board is an acrylic original in its own right, with individual gradients, dot patterns and details, and is signed by Ali Görmez.
Within the edition, this motif plays a special role as the “Sky & Cloud Focky” – with its cloud motif and the clear vertical architecture of color at the neck.
Collector Value
The work makes an excellent eye-catcher in homes and workspaces, studios, practices or entryways that call for an image of vision, clarity and optimism. Combined with other Focky works, “Focky 15” brings an airy, sky-related accent to the series.
The compact 20 × 20 cm format makes it easy to hang in art walls; the coral beak and the green-and-blue segments of the head ensure high visibility on the wall.
More About the Artist
Ali Görmez, born in Bielefeld in 1980, lives and works in Berlin. His visual language brings together Pop Art, urban contemporary art and figurative character painting.
