Visual Description
On the natural-toned painting board, Focky looks straight out of the picture. The bright yellow beak stretches wide across the lower part of the image, framed by clear black contours. The characteristic single eye sits at the center of a sand-colored head covered with larger greenish dots on the left and dense white and turquoise speckles on the right.
Two turquoise wings grow outward on either side. The neck runs into a vertical column of turquoise and white stripes; at its base sits a small triangular element like a tie or a bow knot – a playful business detail.
Artistic Interpretation
“Focky 7” shows the cult duck as a bridge between focus and everyday life – between the inner gaze and “business mode.” The large eye stands for awareness and mindfulness, while the little “tie” suggests that this focus can be carried into work, projects and structure. The turquoise wings bring lightness into the picture: a reminder that professionalism and playful freedom are not mutually exclusive.
The dots on the head read like thoughts, ideas and impulses circling around Focky – held in order by the clear yellow beak at the center.
Art-Historical Context
Like the other works in the series, “Focky 7” belongs to contemporary Pop Art and character art. The reduced figure, flat color, strong outlines and decorative dots and stripes draw on the aesthetics of comics and street art.
At the same time, with Focky, Ali Görmez has developed a distinctive, recognizable lead character in the tradition of Pop Art icons, addressing themes such as focus, identity and life balance in a light, humorous visual language.
Exclusivity
“Focky 7 – November 2025 Edition” belongs to a small edition of hand-painted boards. Each piece is individually executed in acrylic, with its own constellations of dots, wing shapes and details, and is signed by Ali Görmez.
With its turquoise wings, strong yellow beak and suggested tie, this motif adds an especially charming, down-to-earth accent to the series.
Collector Value
The work is a statement piece full of character from the Focky universe and combines beautifully with “Focky 1–6” – for example as an ensemble on one wall. With its compact 20 × 20 cm format and clear colors, “Focky 7” is especially well suited to workspaces, studios, offices and home offices where a friendly, focused companion should be in view.
For collectors of Pop Art and character art, it is a distinct building block with high recognition value.
More About the Artist
Ali Görmez, born in Bielefeld in 1980, lives and works in Berlin. His visual language brings together Pop Art, urban contemporary art and figurative character painting. From early cartoon drawings and influences such as Keith Haring, James Rizzi and Picasso, he developed iconic characters like “The Eddies” and “Focky the Duck.”
With clear contours, bold colors and strongly symbolic motifs, he translates themes such as Love, Peace & Art, focus and inner strength into a contemporary visual world.
