Visual Description
On the natural-toned painting board, Focky appears head-on. The bright yellow beak stretches like a broad smile across the lower part of the picture, emphasized by strong black contours and white highlights. Above it sits the familiar single eye with a beige iris, surrounded by a wreath of blossom-like forms that reads like a stylized crown or medal.
The head is painted in warm sand tones and accented with small olive-green and gray dots; a dark frame with white dots traces its outline. Two white wings grow outward on either side, and two ribbon-like forms close off the head at the top. The neck runs into a vertical column of sand and olive stripes with white dots.
Artistic Interpretation
“Focky 8” shows the cult duck in an especially calm, almost ceremonial mood. The eye with its beige iris feels like an inner focal point protected by a wreath of blossoms – an image of wisdom, maturity and inner dignity. The white wings and the dots along the contour give Focky something angelic without losing the lightness of Pop Art. The yellow beak keeps the scene friendly and approachable.
This work stands for a focus that is not loud but clear, centered and composed – like an award for the path you have taken.
Art-Historical Context
Like the other works in the series, “Focky 8” sits between Pop Art, urban contemporary art and character art. The rigorously stylized figure, flat color, distinct outlines and decorative patterns of dots and wreaths recall the aesthetics of comics and street art.
At the same time, with Focky, Ali Görmez has developed an icon of contemporary Pop Art in its own right, in the tradition of the great pop figures, translating themes such as focus, self-image and inner balance into a visual language.
Exclusivity
“Focky 8 – November 2025 Edition” belongs to a limited edition of hand-painted boards. Each piece is individually executed in acrylic, with its own details in the wreath, dot placement and lines, and is signed by Ali Görmez.
With its blossom-like wreath around the eye and its reduced, warm palette, this motif plays a special role within the series as “Focky in ceremony.”
Collector Value
The work is a concise statement piece within the Focky universe and can be shown beautifully alongside other works from the edition – for instance as a harmonious counterpoint to more colorful motifs. With its compact 20 × 20 cm format and calm yet expressive palette, “Focky 8” suits spaces that call for a concentrated, refined point of focus: studies, lounge areas, entryways or collection walls.
For collectors of Pop Art and character art, it is a distinct building block with high recognition value.
More About the Artist
Ali Görmez, born in Bielefeld in 1980, lives and works in Berlin. His visual language brings together Pop Art, urban contemporary art and figurative character painting. From early cartoon drawings and influences such as Keith Haring, James Rizzi and Picasso, he developed iconic characters like “The Eddies” and “Focky the Duck.”
With clear contours, bold colors and strongly symbolic motifs, he gives themes such as Love, Peace & Art, focus and inner strength a contemporary, easily accessible form.
