Visual Description
In the background rises a ridge of dunes, with a slender lighthouse with a dark band at its right end. The wind drives sand in fine patterns across the wide, pale surface in the foreground; individual posts and small objects provide scale. The sky is crossed by large, moving clouds, and the grain of the photograph gives the picture an analog depth.
Artistic Interpretation
The lighthouse is the destination of the day and at the same time a sign of orientation. It stands small at the edge, not as a triumph but as a quiet certainty. The drifting sand shows how transient the ground is on which we move.
Art-Historical Context
Dramatic skies and fine grain recall twentieth-century landscape photography, such as Ansel Adams, here in a restrained, modern form. The stillness of the picture is close to Michael Kenna’s coastal pictures.
Exclusivity
The picture closes the series: after the crossing, the beach and the promenade, the day ends in the expanse of the dunes. The photograph bears the artist’s signature.
Collector Value
Fine art landscape photography for collectors who value photography as a medium of calm. It works in offices, hotels, residences and living spaces with a calm palette.
More About the Artist
Olli Boehm combines digital photography with mixed-media interventions to create layered pictorial spaces in which reality, memory and atmosphere interlock. His works condense urban and human situations into visual metaphors—between blur, texture and precise composition.
With pure photography, as in the series “A day at the sea” and in his street pictures, he shows the clear, reduced side of this approach.
