Visual Description

On a natural-toned painting board, Focky appears head-on with an intensely orange beak that defines the lower part of the picture. Behind it sits the characteristic tall oval single eye with fine “crack lines,” set within a turquoise-and-beige wreath of dots and triangles that radiates like a mandala-like star.

Two white, comic-style wings grow out of the head on either side, and a band-like arch closes the form at the top. The neck runs into a vertical column of turquoise, black and white with rows of dots. Black contours and white highlights make the figure stand out clearly against the calm, natural-toned ground.

Artistic Interpretation

“Focky 4” combines the cult duck’s clear focus with powerful expressive energy: the large inner eye stands for perception and mindfulness, the bright orange beak for courage, presence and speaking your own truth. The wings and the radiant wreath in the background symbolize lightness, protection and broadening one’s horizon.

Art-Historical Context

More About the Artist

Ali Görmez, born in Bielefeld in 1980, lives and works in Berlin. His visual language links Pop Art, urban contemporary art and figurative character painting. From early cartoon drawings and influences such as Keith Haring, James Rizzi and Picasso, he developed iconic characters like “The Eddies” and “Focky the Duck.”

With bold colors, clear lines and recurring symbols, he creates visual worlds in which Love, Peace & Art take on a contemporary visual form.
