Visual Description

A dark female silhouette strides through a bright space, her contour and bag softened by the movement. Her shadow falls to the lower left. In the background, vertical surfaces separate bright and gray light, and a thin mast stands at the left edge. A fine grain lies over the picture like falling snow.

Artistic Interpretation

It is less a portrait than a trace: one sees that someone was there, not who. The shadow becomes a second figure that walks ahead or follows. The picture does not capture movement; it lets it be.

Art-Historical Context

Motion blur as a creative device leads from the are-bure-boke photography of Daido Moriyama to Gerhard Richter’s principle of blur. Boehm uses it to make the individual visible within the anonymity of urban space.

Exclusivity

Radically reduced: one figure, one shadow, two surfaces. The picture’s effect arises from the blur itself. The photograph bears the artist’s signature.

Collector Value

A work for calm, bright spaces with tension in the detail: offices, law firms, living spaces and galleries. Hangs well as a pair with “Two Walkers.”

More About the Artist

Olli Boehm combines digital photography with mixed-media interventions to create layered pictorial spaces in which reality, memory and atmosphere interlock. His works condense urban and human situations into visual metaphors—between blur, texture and precise composition.

With pure photography, as in the series “A day at the sea” and in his street pictures, he shows the clear, reduced side of this approach.
