Visual Description
A vertical format. From above, a broad sweep of dark brown hair falls into the picture; below it, bands of pink, turquoise, yellow and green merge. In the lower third lies a dark outline, above which “REMEMBER THAT.” stands in bold block letters. Vertical streaks and drips create the effect of a dragged surface.
Artistic Interpretation
A sentence that reveals nothing and wants everything: one does not know what to remember. That is precisely its power, because every viewer fills it with their own story. The face is missing; the hair stands for the person.
Art-Historical Context
The dragged field of color recalls Gerhard Richter’s abstract squeegee paintings. The word as a pictorial element refers to Ed Ruscha. Boehm combines both with a photographic starting motif.
Exclusivity
The more colorful counterpart to “Talking Helps.” Both pictures share format, technique and attitude and are conceived as a diptych.
Collector Value
On its own a friendly accent of color; as a pair with “Talking Helps,” a strong conversation on the wall. For living spaces, agencies, practices and studios.
More About the Artist
Olli Boehm combines digital photography with mixed-media interventions to create layered pictorial spaces in which reality, memory and atmosphere interlock. His works condense urban and human situations into visual metaphors—between blur, texture and precise composition.
