Tear

Visual Description

Artistic Interpretation

It is not about an event but a state: pain that is not explained. The crystal seems both real and staged, leaving open whether the feeling is shown or performed. The closeness asks for restraint from the viewer.

Art-Historical Context

The motif of the glass tear quotes Man Ray’s “Larmes” (Tears) from 1932 and carries it into a contemporary portrait crop. The reduction to black and white makes the gesture feel classic.
