Visual Description
A square black-and-white picture with coarse grain. At the top, a large oval skylight opens, letting bright light fall into the space. Below stands a glass front with narrow dark posts; in front of it, three people sit on benches, silhouetted against the light. Behind the glass, bicycles and a tree can be seen; in the foreground, the tile joints run in vanishing lines toward the window.
Artistic Interpretation
The light belongs to the space, the people belong to the waiting. They are small, turned away, gathered and yet separate. The picture turns the everyday life of a transit hall into an architecture of time: nothing is experienced here; time is simply bridged.
Art-Historical Context
The picture moves between architectural photography and street photography. Ellipse, grid and vanishing lines recall the pictorial order of the New Vision, while the backlit silhouettes recall twentieth-century street photography.
Exclusivity
One of the clearest compositions in the selection: ellipse, window grid and figures form a structure that needs no embellishment. Together with “Buchloe, Station,” it forms a pair of expanse and view through.
Collector Value
A work for spaces with architectural ambition: offices, law firms, architecture firms, stairwells and modern living spaces. The square format works on its own as well as in a row.
More About the Artist
Olli Boehm combines digital photography with mixed-media interventions to create layered pictorial spaces in which reality, memory and atmosphere interlock. His works condense urban and human situations into visual metaphors—between blur, texture and precise composition.
With pure photography, as in the series “A day at the sea” and in his street pictures, he shows the clear, reduced side of this approach.
