Visual Description
On a natural-toned painting board, Focky’s head appears head-on. The bright yellow beak dominates the foreground; above it sits the characteristic tall oval single eye with fine “cracks” – like a sensitive focal point. A turquoise, radiating wreath and a dense field of white, mint and apricot dots surround the figure like a vibrating aura. Clear black contours and white accents hold the Pop Art figure graphically together; the compact 20 × 20 cm format reads like a concentrated icon.
Artistic Interpretation
In this edition, “Focky the Duck” appears as a concentrated point of calm: the large eye stands for inner sight, the ability to stay centered even when your surroundings are full of stimuli. The dotted aura acts like a field of energy – an image of focused attention in which yellow and turquoise combine optimism, clarity and playful lightness. Here Focky becomes a quiet ally for everyone who wants to turn their gaze back to what really matters.
Art-Historical Context
The work is clearly rooted in contemporary Pop Art and character art: a reduced, comic-like figure, strong contours, flat color and ornamental dot structures that recall street art and the aesthetics of digital icons. At the same time, Görmez draws on influences such as Keith Haring and James Rizzi, whose color-intense, figurative visual language he carries into a recognizable universe of his own.
Exclusivity
“Focky 1 – November 2025 Edition” is part of a small edition of hand-painted boards centered on the cult character “Focky the Duck.” Each board is individually worked in acrylic, takes on a one-of-a-kind character through its color nuances, dot placements and details, and is individually signed by Ali Görmez.
Collector Value
This work is a compact statement piece from the Focky universe – ideal as an entry into Ali Görmez’s work or as an addition to existing Pop Art and urban contemporary collections. Small in format yet highly radiant, it is especially suited to workspaces, creative spaces and homes that call for a clear, positive focus.
More About the Artist
Ali Görmez is regarded as an insider tip of contemporary Pop Art. Born in Bielefeld in 1980, the artist lives and works in Berlin; his works are created in oil and acrylic on canvas as well as in multimedia compositions. He drew cartoons as a child; later influences included Keith Haring, James Rizzi and Picasso – influences he translates into characters of his own such as “The Eddies” and “Focky the Duck.” Today his work is shown internationally; it stands for an art that connects Love, Peace & Art with clear messages and iconic characters.
