You Give Me Butterflies

Visual Description

At the center, two figures leap – a dancer on the left, Mickey on the right – into a firework of glowing splashes of color. Behind them a burst of rays explodes in yellow, orange, red, blue and pink. Above their heads glows the typographic message “YOU GIVE ME BUTTERFLIES”. Mickey’s yellow bomber jacket spreads like wings, and the ground pulses in gray-violet with colorful traces, tags and drips.

Artistic Interpretation

The work celebrates enthusiasm, lightness and infectious energy. Mickey becomes the motivator: his pose sweeps you along, the jacket “flutters” like butterfly wings. “Butterflies” stands for that tingling feeling – being in love, a creative new start – making this a picture about community, joining in and the power of the moment.

Art-Historical Context

Rike Wölke combines Pop Art iconography with urban art: spray paint, drips, tags and strong signal colors meet figurative painting. The appropriation of a pop symbol follows Pop Art traditions, while the performative dynamism draws on street and dance culture – a contemporary hybrid between stage and street.

Exclusivity

A square-format original with layered paint, gestural splashes and a neon-like typographic quality. The mix of dance movement and an iconic character is striking and instantly recognizable.

Collector Value

A statement piece with strong impact from a distance: emotionally uplifting, rooted in pop culture and painterly rich at the same time. Ideal for collections drawn to pop meets urban and a strong presence in the room.

Rike Wölke combines figuration with expressive gesture and abstract influences; luminous, powerful colors, dynamic lines and rhythmic splashes define her unmistakable signature.

Contrasts and the balance between precise drawing and spontaneous intuition create tense, layered pictures that open up an emotional dialogue and personal readings.
