Visual Description

A zebra in half profile emerges from vigorous black-and-white strokes. Diagonal smears, drips and impasto lines lend speed and depth. Neon-pink and orange tire prints cut between the monochrome lines of movement – urban signals crossing the animal’s world.

Artistic Interpretation

“Zebra 2” explores the tension between wilderness and intrusion: the animal’s vital presence meets the traces of human mobility. Speed, friction, overlap – a picture about coexistence, collision and the question of how civilization marks landscape (and life).

Art-Historical Context

Gestural, expressive painting meets elements of urban art (imprint, trace, tag). The clear black-and-white figuration recalls neo-expressive depictions of animals, while the neon accents carry the motif into a contemporary, urban visual language.

Exclusivity

An original with a characteristic, highly dynamic texture. The neon tire prints serve as a recognizable signature element within Wölke’s zebra series.

Collector Value

An iconic animal motif with strong impact from a distance and real thematic relevance. A statement piece for collections looking for nature themes in a modern, urban aesthetic.

More About the Artist

Rike Wölke combines figuration with expressive gesture and abstract influences; luminous, powerful colors, dynamic lines and rhythmic splashes define her unmistakable signature.

Contrasts and the balance between precise drawing and spontaneous intuition create tense, layered pictures that open up an emotional dialogue and personal readings.
