Monkey in the Jungle

Visual Description

A squirrel monkey sits attentively on a winding liana, its long tail hanging down in a loop. Around it opens a tropical rainforest with palm fronds, red berries, bromeliads and two whirring hummingbirds. In the background, trees and sky shimmer in cool blue and green.

Artistic Interpretation

The picture is a tribute to the abundance of the rainforest. The monkey appears curious and alert, part of a dense web of plants and animals. Graf tells of liveliness, diversity and the beauty of an endangered habitat.

Art-Historical Context

The composition stands in the tradition of naturalist tropical painting, which has accompanied expeditions and discoveries since the nineteenth century. Graf combines this precision with cheerful, contemporary color.

Exclusivity

A vertical format (60 × 80 cm) full of detail: hummingbirds, berries and blossoms reward a close look. The work connects with Graf’s rainforest paintings of macaws to form a small series of tropical motifs.

Collector Value

A cheerful, lively work for living rooms, children’s rooms, practices, conservatories and restaurants. For collectors of tropical nature painting, a fitting complement to “Aras im Regenwald.”
