Visual Description

A horizontal composition with a luminous, impasto zone of orange in the upper third. Below and above it lie dark layers, from earthy tones to night-blue and black. Speckles, drips and fine particles create a cosmic, granite-like ground – like embers above a star-studded field.

Artistic Interpretation

Alhambra explores warmth and gravity: a band of light meets depth. The work calls up associations of embers, dusk, volcanic earth and the night sky. Between condensation and dissolution, a contemplative space opens in which energy shines through matter like a memory.

Art-Historical Context

The work sits between Color Field painting and Art Informel. The horizontal layering recalls landscape and horizon motifs in abstraction, while the granular, partly splattered texture connects to experimental material painting and contemporary research into surface.

Exclusivity

A one-of-a-kind original with a striking band of orange and a multilayered, grainy surface; Uslu’s hand is unmistakable in the combination of impasto trace, splatter technique and tonal darkness.

Collector Value

A focused work that carries a room, combining strong impact from a distance with rich detail up close – ideal for curatorial hangings between abstraction, associations of landscape and material painting, in private and institutional collections alike.

More About the Artist

Sadik Uslu is a contemporary painter who has worked between landscape and abstraction for more than 25 years, building vibrant fields of color from multiple layers of acrylic and oil glazes.

His tactile surfaces, with inclusions of materials such as earth and sand, are characteristic of his work: they condense light, movement and groundedness into a pictorial energy you can feel immediately.
