Visual Description
A narrow stream winds through an open forest, the leaves along its banks glowing red, orange and gold. Tall trees with pale trunks lean over the water, their crowns still green and yellow. In the background, a hazy blue sky shimmers.
Artistic Interpretation
The picture shows autumn as a time of transition and abundance. The flowing water brings both calm and movement into the picture and invites the viewer to pause.
Art-Historical Context
Graf combines the tradition of German forest painting with a loose, impressionistic application of paint. The light and color of the leaves are at the center, not the detail.
Exclusivity
Vertical format, 80 × 100 cm. Part of Graf’s paintings of the seasons, which together form a small cycle.
Collector Value
A warm, calming work for living and dining rooms, country houses, practices and hotels. Especially harmonious together with “Sommer” and “Winter.”
