Visual Description

Against a smooth, bright red ground, a bouquet of yellow, orange and violet-blue tulips explodes. The foliage shimmers in green, pink and turquoise glazes; fine, neon-like lines and impasto accents model leaves and blossoms. The glossy lacquer surface heightens the Pop effect and gives the picture strong impact from a distance.

Artistic Interpretation

“Tulips” is color as celebration: new beginnings, energy and cheerful opulence. The hard contrast between the red ground and the cool and warm tones of the blossoms turns the tulips into icons of joy in life—a statement about lightness, abundance and the pleasure of the here and now.

Art-Historical Context

The clear contour, bold color and monochrome background connect to Pop Art strategies and contemporary poster aesthetics. Gestural marks and drips also place the work in the tradition of expressive contemporary painting—florals in the mode of Pop poetry.

Exclusivity

A one-of-a-kind work with a characteristic signature style: multiple layers of lacquer, brilliant saturation and precisely placed lines create gloss, depth and dynamism. The intense red ground makes the bouquet a powerful visual anchor.

Collector Value

A striking statement piece for lobbies, dining areas, practices and living spaces—positive, modern and highly versatile. Ideal as a color centerpiece or as the leitmotif of a floral series.
