Visual Description

Three women with patterned faces and artful headscarves look seriously and directly out of the picture. Dot ornaments cover foreheads and cheeks, and the garments carry light patterns. The background is densely alive with green and white butterflies, flowers, figure silhouettes and fields of color in orange, blue and green.

Artistic Interpretation

The title turns the picture into a promise. The three women stand together, calm and determined, while butterflies—signs of transformation and freedom—rise around them. It is a picture about solidarity and about freedom being won together.

Art-Historical Context

The work draws on the tradition of the group portrait and combines it with ornamental patterns reminiscent of African textile and body art. At the same time, it belongs to contemporary painting that shows women as active, strong subjects.

Exclusivity

A wide landscape format (75 × 116 cm) rich in detail. The dot ornaments on the faces and the densely scattered butterflies are carefully painted and give this one-of-a-kind work a textile, almost luminous surface.

Collector Value

A meaningful work for spaces with a stance: companies, foundations, cultural venues, law firms and living spaces. With “Africa queen” and “African ethnies,” it forms an impressive series within the group of works “Gesichter & Geschichten” (Faces & Stories).
