Visual Description
Two silhouettes in dark coats walk side by side through a bright, reflective street scene; a tree trunk emerges as a dark vertical at the left edge. Their shadows and reflections lie beneath them, and the surface behind them flickers in gray patterns. The picture has the feel of a smudged drawing.
Artistic Interpretation
Two people in step, and yet no conversation can be made out. The scene asks about the closeness of being side by side that everyday city life creates. We do not know whether they know each other, and that is exactly what keeps the picture open.
Art-Historical Context
The work stands in the same dialogue as Boehm’s overpainted cityscapes: street photography close to Saul Leiter, dissolved into texture and reflection. Gerhard Richter’s blur remains palpable as a point of reference.
Exclusivity
The darker, denser counterpart to “The Walker.” Both works share format, tonal value and visual language and work individually as well as a pair. The photograph bears the artist’s signature.
Collector Value
For spaces with an urban character: agencies, offices, lofts and living spaces. As a pair with “The Walker,” it creates a calm rhythm of light and dark on the wall.
More About the Artist
Olli Boehm combines digital photography with mixed-media interventions to create layered pictorial spaces in which reality, memory and atmosphere interlock. His works condense urban and human situations into visual metaphors—between blur, texture and precise composition.
With pure photography, as in the series “A day at the sea” and in his street pictures, he shows the clear, reduced side of this approach.
