Color in Motion
Lacquer abstraction and flowers in lacquer technique: the same gesture, once free and once within a motif.
Description
Abstract color fields and flower paintings, mostly in lacquer on canvas. Crazy life, Unchained melody, Vanilla Sky and The blue point unfold drips, splatters and loops on a light ground. Poppy flowers, Tulips, Spring tulips, Roses and Summerflowers translate the same gesture into poppies, tulips and roses against strong color fields.
Idea
Here the figure steps back while the attitude remains. The subject is rhythm, tempo and sound, as the title “Unchained melody” already suggests. The blossoms are color taking shape: the motif gives the movement something to hold on to without slowing it down.
Context
The gestural abstraction follows the line of action painting and Informel. Lacquer brings an urban, glossy material into the work and gives the surfaces depth. The flower paintings take up the tradition of the floral still life but dissolve it into glowing, almost neon lines and impasto accents.
What sets it apart
Abstraction and blossom are painted in one technique and speak the same language. The blue point, an oil painting, is the bridge between the two worlds. Roses and Summerflowers (each 50 × 100 cm) come in a retro frame and, as panoramic formats, have a strong presence in a room.
For collectors & spaces
Suited to offices, practices, reception areas and homes where color should bring energy without demanding a figure. The large formats (80 × 120 cm) carry a wall on their own, while the panoramas fit above sideboards and in hallways.
