Visual Description
Two monochrome hands in a dramatic vertical format: above, the giving hand; below, the receiving one. Neon-blue lines run across both like veins of light, while a bright red ribbon winds between them. Individual drops glow, and the ground shifts between dark shades of violet and black with glazed traces.
Artistic Interpretation
“D.V.” addresses connection, care and trust. Energy flows visibly—from the protective gesture to the open hand. The red ribbon marks bonds and movement; the blue lines stand for vitality, healing and passing things on. A picture about resonance: giving, receiving, responsibility.
Art-Historical Context
The iconic constellation of hands evokes central motifs of art history, from Michelangelo’s gesture of touch to modern symbolic languages. The combination of neon accents, gestural traces and realistic figuration places the work between New Figuration, Pop aesthetics and urban painting.
Exclusivity
A one-of-a-kind work with a clear signature: precise black-and-white hands, a neon-blue flow of energy and a red ribbon as a striking motif. The narrow vertical format (100 × 50 cm) heightens the vertical drama and makes the work instantly recognizable.
Collector Value
A statement piece with strong symbolism that reads from a distance—a compelling choice for central placements in galleries, cultural venues and reception areas, as well as private collections. Ideal for deepening a group of Hübner works around the dialogue of monochrome and color, gesture and humanity.
More About the Artist
Matthias Hübner (b. 1976) combines high-contrast black and white with neon/UV color in modern surrealistic realism; people, emotions and open interpretations are at the center, and since 2020 he has been working experimentally again. Early prizes (GDR 1989, Europe 1993) and his selection as a 2025 Teravarna finalist mark his development.
