Visual Description
A close, bold crop of a monochrome face against a bright orange ground. Dark drips run across the forehead and cheeks. A large hand dominates the foreground, its middle finger resting on the lips. Hard chiaroscuro, grainy textures and energetic splatters.
Artistic Interpretation
“F…U…” expresses resistance, self-assertion and nonconformity. The gesture, between silence and statement, turns anger into a clear visual language. Orange, as a color of alarm and energy, stands for urgency; the monochrome figure holds the tension between control and eruption.
Art-Historical Context
New Figuration meets Pop and urban aesthetics: a photographic close-up, a characteristic drip gesture and a selective field of color. The iconic choreography of hand and facial expression draws on punk protest iconography and contemporary street-art strategies.
Exclusivity
A one-of-a-kind work with an instantly recognizable signature style: monochrome figuration plus intense orange, dripping veils of paint and a centrally placed iconic gesture. The compact portrait format (70 × 50 cm) offers strong presence and is easy to hang precisely.
Collector Value
A statement piece that reads strongly from a distance—ideal for central walls in galleries, cultural venues and reception areas, and for private collections focused on attitude, identity and urban visual rhetoric. A striking link within Hübner’s dialogue between monochrome and color.
More About the Artist
Matthias Hübner (b. 1976) combines high-contrast black and white with neon/UV color in modern surrealistic realism; people, emotions and open interpretations are at the center, and since 2020 he has been working experimentally again. Early prizes (GDR 1989, Europe 1993) and his selection as a 2025 Teravarna finalist mark his development.
