Visual Description

Keras appears as a rearing, horse-like creature on a rectangular base: sinewy anatomy, pointed rows of spines along the neck and back, ending in a long tail. The resin surface has a gray patina with nuanced highlights that emphasize muscles, tendons and shoulder plates. Fine drill points and notches give the skin a rhythm like seams – a hybrid-looking organism between study and living being. The silhouette is strictly vertical, the stance powerful, the movement frozen at the moment of rearing.

Artistic Interpretation

Keras explores impulse and restraint: raw energy gathered into a controlled rearing. The figure plays with the familiar gesture of the equestrian statue – without rider, without saddle – and turns our attention to the animal as subject. The seams and spiny structures open up readings of transformation, healing and construction: is Keras a tamed mythical creature, a body newly assembled, a memory of earlier forms? The sculpture stays open – and asks viewers to take a position.
