Urban Movements
The human being in the rhythm of city, time and perception
In this group of works, Olli Boehm turns his gaze to people in public space. Squares, promenades and park landscapes do not appear as fixed backdrops but as shifting structures of figures, light, color and time. The people often remain shadowy and become fleeting traces within their surroundings.
Photography and digital image editing merge into atmospheric cityscapes. In “People Move,” “Piazza dell’Opera” and “Promenade,” movement and architecture dissolve into one another. “Colorful Promenade,” “Colorful Autumn” and “Colorful Park” condense everyday situations through blur, overlays and layers of color into subjective images of perception.
Description
Squares, promenades, a lake and park landscapes through which shadowy figures walk, cycle or linger. Blur, reflections, drips and layers of color settle over the photographic scene. The formats reach up to 90 × 160 cm.
Idea
The group shows people as fleeting traces in public space. City and landscape are not backdrops but shifting structures of light, color and time. Each picture holds a moment that is already passing.
Context
Boehm’s overpainted photography is in dialogue with Saul Leiter’s street photography and Robert Rauschenberg’s overlays. The photographic source remains recognizable, but manual and digital reworking turn it into a subjective image of perception.
What sets it apart
“Colorful Promenade,” “Colorful Autumn” and “Colorful Parc” form a color series of their own within the group. “At Zürich-lake” and “Colorful Autumn” are photographic prints on canvas overpainted with acrylic; “Colorful Parc” is a hybrid work on canvas and wood.
For collectors & spaces
For collectors, the group offers a contemporary interpretation of urban life. The works combine dynamic visual impact with quiet moments of observation and open up a layered view of movement, anonymity and the fleeting nature of the moment.
